Unsigned (UK) |
"Unsigned has been published by Evelyn Nguyen from England, UK since December 2005. The A4 sized, 40 page fanzine features color covers, lesser known underground bands from a wide range of alternative genres (including indie, punk, metal, goth and rock), and it champions unheard and insigned bands. Unsigned is also a forum for publishing new talent in music journalism and photography; the magazine has been a starting point for contributors to go on to write for more mainstream, bigger titles. Each issue comes with a free CD showcasing up-and-coming bands." Quoted from ZineWiki. http://www.unsignedmag.net/ (added 19/7/2007) |

Text heavy and political, it is a photocopied, black-and-white publication. Laura-Marie has been editing zines since her high school days and has continued to publish." Quoted from ZineWiki. Undeici Luna |
"Undeci Luna is a rad comic by my friend, Mindy. The story follows a
young girl named Wendy, as she tries to survive her messed up
childhood. Her parents are always fighting, so finally she takes off
one night, crashing with her friend Carly in the tree house. The next
Wendy goes home to find her parents are gone! I won’t spoil the ending, you’ll have to get this yourself. The first of three, this zine gives you just enough to want some more." Zine by Mindy. Quoted and available to order from Loop Distro. (added 19/2/2007) |

Mostly you are lucky, but if you aren't smart you could get sick or arrested! This zine tells you how to go about getting food, what kind of food to look for, what to do with it (recipes! canning! trade!) and the typical shelf life of specific items. A sweet, easily navigatable zine, perfect for the fledgling punk rocker or anarchist!" Quoted and available to order from feed your head books. (added 31/01/2007) |

The
Urban Hermitt (WA/ US) |
One
of my favourite zines!!! After I heard Hermitt reading at the Copy and Destroy
tour in San Diego, I have read almost all issues and am just reading his
book "Urban Hermitt: The Flow Chronicles" (published by Microcosm).
"The Hermitt is the beat poet of the zeros! These are the stories that
make up a life dripping with idealism. Hang your mouth wide open in awe
as the descriptions come out of living with hippies at the bad poetry house
and then again on her trip to Hawaii staying in a tent on a farm. It's all
a unique own hip hop infused version of the English language. What may appear
to be a typo at first may actually be slang. It's easy to get sucked straight
up into the Hermitt's world after a few pages and really, I don't blame
you for wanting to stay there. It has a pretty swell outlook on life. Featuring
revelations like "just because you consider yourself to be a great
artist doesn't mean you are exempt from paying rent." (description
from Microcosm). Microcosm

Under
the World (New Zealand) |
"I’m
fascinated by different beliefs and ritual- making, and it’s constantly
amazing to me what a range of different spiritual practices are sheltered
under the umbrella term “pagan” (and then there’s the
ones that refuse the term entirely!)" Issue#4 offers articles on
magical herbs, a guide for the teen witch, magic and mythology, and other
articles on the pagan theme. “ Under-the-World focuses on personal
experience and practice of pagan spirituality including, but no limited
to, Wicca and other forms of witchcraft, women’s spirituality, Druidry,
Asatru, Vodoun, Christian Mysticism, shamanism, traditional Maori practice,
etc.” |
